A nominating committee appointed by the president has submitted a list of proposed candidates for offices as required by the NSNC Bylaws. This slate of nominees will be presented at the conference with the election scheduled for Sunday, July 11, at the general membership meeting . Here’s the suggested slate from our fantastic nominating committee:
President — Ben Pollock, current Vice President
Vice President — Karen Rinehart – Karen Rinehart is a syndicated columnist, humorist, public speaker, author of a number of books and is the creator of “Bus Stop Mommies.”
Secretary — Wayne Chan – Wayne Chan is a humor writer and book author whose syndicated columns appear in a number of newspapers around the country.
Robert Haught – Incumbent Newsletter Editor
Sheila Moss – Incumbent Web Editor
Russell Frank – Incumbent Education Chair
At-Large Members — Linda Caillouet and Mary Curtis – At large members are appointed by the board to serve one-year terms.
Linda Caillouet writes a column for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. She has served as NSNC Archivist and is currently Interim Secretary.
Mary Curtis, recently an award-winning columnist for the Charlotte Observer, has been an editor for the New York Times , reporter and editor for the Associated Press, and contributes commentary to FOX news, PBS and numerous additional venues.
All board officers will be elected for two-year terms except the Secretary, which is for one year to complete a term during which the incumbent resigned. Everyone has accepted their nominations, and are eager to serve when elected.
Thanks are extended to the nominating committee: (Standring, Tammeus, Lieber, Bykofsky, and Chair, Dave Astor) Under NSNC Bylaws, other nominations may be made during the conference.
The committee will now tackle immigration reform, the oil spill in the Gulf, and the financial crisis. (Okay, so we might be making this part up.)
