NSNC member Mark Berryman announced to the Southern Humorists Yahoo discussion group that he will soon have a new gig.
“In a week or two I will be changing jobs. I will leave the Franklin County Citizen (GA) where I work as a sports and news reporter and join the Elberton Star as editor. It will be my first stint as editor, so there’s lots to learn.”
A reader quipped, “Now you can spell words wrong and use improper grammar and nobody can stop you.” Berryman laughingly agreed but noted that being an editor will not stop readers from calling and complaining. Sounds as if he is facing reality already.
When he is not too busy being a reporter and all-around nice guy, Mark writes a humor column for the Franklin County Citizen and also writes cowboy poetry. He has won a number of professional press awards for his journalism from Georgia Press Association, Community Newspapers Inc., and the Georgia Sports Writers Association. The awards are for writing, news and sports coverage, as well as photography.
By the way, did we mention that if he needs another columnist for his paper, we know where he can find over 200 of them?
