Milton (MA) – Writer Suzette Martinez Standring is published in a book of stories about those embarrassing “comedy-of-error” moments that make us all human. “Mug of Woe: Tales to Make You Realize Your Life is Awesome” (Amazon Digital Services, $5.99 on Kindle, 223 pages, July 2011) features essays from over forty humorists and stand-up comedians who spill the beans on their most humbling, hilarious, and harebrained moments.
“Down There Nothing Is Minor,” is a laugh-out-loud episode at the doctor’s office by Suzette Standring. “Somebody described it as a riff on the Vagina Monologues, but I think of it as a minor surgery soliloquy. At the launch party, I was embarrassed to be introduced as the ‘vagina author.’ Obviously, I didn’t think this through,” said Standring, who is both a syndicated religion and humor columnist. She is the award winning author of “The Art of Column Writing: Insider Secrets from Art Buchwald, Dave Barry, Arianna Huffington, Pete Hamill, and Other Great Columnists.” Standring also hosts a Milton Cable Access TV show about the craft of writing, It’s All Write With Suzette, which features guest authors and columnists.
Mug of Woe is edited by Boston writers Kyle Therese Cranston and Jenn Dlugos. If you were ever the reason strangers stopped and pointed, a victim of Murphy’s Law, or the cautionary tale in your group of friends, then Mug of Woe is the book for you!
