The Art of the Interview

In the pandemic, journalists are doing a lot of “Zooming” and are expected to do more live interviews. As journalists, we’re used to conducting interviews for crafting articles that quote and otherwise glean from conversations. In Zoom webinars and other live programs, an interview looks very different. There’s no going back later to cobble quotes together for an article. It all happens in real time. The interviewer must lead the conversation for an immediate audience. 

Mary C. Curtis, a columnist at Roll Call, an award-winning journalist, and host of the CQ Roll Call podcast “Equal Time, with Mary C. Curtis;” and John Avlon, who has gone from Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Beast to senior political analyst and fill-in anchor at CNN, will provide valuable insights to the art of the interview.
